John Maxwell teaches that the greatest responsibility of a leader is to raise up more leaders, and this episode is dedicated to helping you do that by showing you how to spot potential leaders. What makes up a good leader? John shares three key characteristics to evaluate a person’s leadership capacity: character, desire, and discipline. He breaks down each characteristic to make them readily identifiable.

Mark Cole and Richard Chancy zoom out and share helpful ways to look for these characteristics in the hiring process. Then Mark zooms in, turns the spotlight on the listener, and encourages us to live discipline on a daily basis. He shares that every major good decision costs more than expected and takes longer than hoped for but is worth it. Let the guidance in this episode help you keep growing as a leader while you’re intentional to raise up new leaders.

  1. I really loved this podcast. I was wondering if there is anyway to get the transcript for the Time Management. I really loved it and with me working in a financial institution it made and since and would like to share with my coworkers!

    1. Hi Nicole, unfortunately, our episodes are not currently transcribed. We hope to add this feature in the near future. In the meantime, please feel free to share this episode with your coworkers.

      1. That is ok. I spent time writing it down. But it would be nice. But I love spending time in the morning before work listening to John and the podcast!

  2. I really appreciate all of these teachings. My goal is to bring this kind teaching to my country because this is life and country changing material. Thank you for all you do.

  3. I have been so blessed and inspired listening to this series. Personally it has been challenging. Pastoring a church in my country Zambia in this generation has has its challenges but the expounding of this lesson ha answered a lot of my questions.
I guess we must be focussed more on running the distance than just wanting to get to the destination.

  4. It has been and still is my burning desire to see my country transformed.
    thank you Papa John.

May the Lord Richly bless you

  5. This episode really stuck out to me. As a Leader aspiring to do great, I try my best to keep abreast with the Podcast and when I heard the breakdown of time from John it was a light bulb moment for me. As a leader i often take for granted the power and importance of time and when I heard the breakdown it hit me and reminded me of what the great Ali had to say “Don’t count the days, make the day count…” Thank you guys! Greetings from Jamaica!

    1. O’Shane, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! What a great reminder from Ali.
