The Best Advice I Ever Got

This is going to be a fun one! We’ve spent a lot of time on some in-depth leadership discussions over the last 11 episodes. So, we decided we would use Episode 12 to have a fun discussion about the best advice John, Mark, and Richard have ever received.

John shares some of the best advice he’s gotten over the years from reading, asking questions, observing, and through his personal relationships. He also shares the best advice he’s received from teachers and influencers who have shaped his leadership, career, and character.

Mark and Richard take the opportunity to discuss not only the best advice, but also the worst advice they’ve ever received. Let’s just say…there are a couple “don’t try this at home” moments.

Our BONUS resource for this episode is The Best Advice Worksheet, which includes fill-in-the-blank notes for you to complete throughout John’s teaching. You can download this worksheet by clicking the “Bonus Resource” button below.

  1. I am a Maxey (John Maxwell’s fan). You are feeding into my self-development phase of my life at 61 years old. I have reflected on several people that have given me great advice in my life. It has been hard for me to find good leaders in the church and life itself that love people and love to assist in the growth and development of people.

  2. My name is Denise and I have come to the realization that I am exactly where I am supposed to be in the John Maxwell program. I listen and move forward with intent knowing that I intentionally think of others first and all of these messages are my personal philosophies and passions. Thank you for the continued affirmation that I am on track to living my best authentic life.

  3. Great!! One thought.
I am a student of the Titanic. One story tells about how coals for the engine had starting burning but they had not got to the place where the fire had started. When the ship hit the iceberg it is believed that the steel was not able to hold because of the heat.
When I heard about below the water line how many times is it something more internal. We are quick to look at what is happening externally but when we are stronger on the inside we can hold better from what hits us on the outside.

  4. Awesome! John is an amazing person.
I really love to hear John speak. He is awesomely good at giving timely words and messages to his listeners. Listening to this episode of “The best advice I ever got” has expose me much on considering advice. Thank you John for the good advice.
