Attitude: The Difference Maker (Part 1)

This episode kicks off a three-part series on attitude. John starts us off by clearly reminding us that attitude is NOT everything, but it IS the difference maker. John shares a list of what attitude cannot substitute for, as well as a list of what attitude can do for us. He encourages us to make attitude our greatest asset.

Mark Cole, Richard Chancy, and Jason Brooks offer perspective on what choosing and maintaining a positive attitude looks like for different personality types. Introverts and extroverts have different challenges with keeping a positive attitude, but two things ring true for all types and help develop a positive attitude over the long haul: the need for positive self-talk and a commitment to embracing resistance.

  1. So good! I REALLY identify with the need to not be afraid of showing up with a good attitude. In the years I was devastated and coping with losing my identity, career, and physical ability and all that goes with it I established what people saw and heard me struggle with in my relational circles and community. Having grown tremendously is very hard to “show up” and BE who I am not by being who I am. It’s such a big gap to bridge having grown internally and allowing the outside factors to get better. I know I have a responsibility to help people see me now, but not be focused on being accurately seen as my objective, it’s a bi-product of being able to have a positive influence and accomplish my purpose. It grieves me that I struggle to overcome these things that remain. I so aim to change it for good.

    1. Thanks for sharing, Brenda! What a great example of owning your attitude to make a big a positive difference in your life!

  2. It seems to me that confidence for competence is a life long journey always influenced by our attitude to want to learn.
