Every year, after John Maxwell’s year in review process of reflecting on the past year, John chooses a word that encompasses the main area of focus that he wants to the accomplish in the coming year. In this Candid Conversation, John Maxwell and Mark Cole talk about their words for the year and why they chose them.
Based on their words for the year, John and Mark discuss what it means to put something behind you in order to move forward. This means resolving issues and facing them head on instead of suppressing or neglecting them.

What a great conversation. Fits in exactly with my plans for this year to create a movement that develops leadership skills in adults and our youth. My word for the year is FOCUS so that I avoid distractions and move toward my purpose.
Wow, thank you! I’m well focused with my word of the year. I am making traction forward. The part about lamenting is where I will focus. I find myself appreciating resilience over difficult things from last year, but lamenting and letting go are next level. I’m not stuck, I am moving forward, but this lesson takes me the next step into really putting things, situations, and the limits that either I have or that have been assigned to me behind me. Thank you!
