John Maxwell teaches the “Law of Intentionality” as the foundation to his 15 Laws of Growth online course. For this episode, we’re sharing the entire first lesson from this online course, and we have a special offer for the course exclusively for our podcast listeners! So be sure to listen.
In this episode, John begins by reminding us that growth is the only guarantee that tomorrow is going to get better. He provides the framework for your own personal growth plan and explains the role of intentionality in learning to live it out.
Mark Cole follows up by asking us to articulate what it is that we’re doing right now to develop ourselves, and Richard Chancy challenges us to make sure our growth goals are specific and relevant to what we’re doing. They encourage us to follow John’s advice and pick one skill and one choice to intentionally work on. Everything we want to achieve is dependent on our commitment to intentionally grow!
Our BONUS resource for this series is the complete video of John’s lesson on the “Law of Intentionality” from The 15 Laws of Growth online course. You can access the video by visiting MaxwellPodcast.com/Intention and clicking “Download the Bonus Resource.”
Challenging talk. When you set a growth goal you starting working towards it.
Good discussion piece. I would like to take some of these principles into the workplace, and thus I have a question. Would setting a work-based growth plan be better served to ask the employees to grow in work-related areas only or would it be effective to have them grow in any aspect of their life? My perspective is that growth in a topic outside of work would benefit the workplace as it creates an environment for growth and change and their “whole self” is better for the growth in areas away from work. But, I would be interested in some thoughts on this outside of my own as I am working to create a framework for this for my team en lieu of a formal policy within the company I’m employed.
Chad, it looks like you’re on the right track. For John Maxwell, everything starts with personal growth. I have been listening to these podcasts for a while now to the point that I have started re- listening.. I have to say that not only do you inspire me in my work environment but you also inspire me in my personal growth especially over recent where I feel I was lacking in self confidence, I feel I have personal coaches in your voices and whilst I may be sat in London and pretty far away – I feel so connected – would love to attend a conference one day.
Hi Suky! We are so glad to hear that the podcast is adding value to your leadership and that it has been an inspiration to you. Thanks for sharing your kind words!
